Transformation and triumph in this week's Heyday Friday newsletter
Feeling rather proud of myself, satisfyingly full up, and more than a bit delighted as you'll discover.
I can’t think of a blog that’s taken longer in the preparation than the one I’ve written this week. Or about which I could, as you can see, be more delighted.
But then it is all about how I painstakingly learnt and managed to make a chair go from looking like the picture on the left to the one on the right…
….and transform a coffee table into a padded footstool
…all with my own fair hands. And, of course, a LOT of very patient teaching, demonstrating and guidance.

I’m pretty certain American psychologist Wayne Dyer wasn’t thinking about furniture when he said these
WORDS OF WISDOM
about transformation. But I really like them anyway.
Sue is a fabulous Heydayer who made a big change to her life - I bet you’ll never guess from what and to what.

I love sharing the Mindful Chef recipes I’ve tried and enjoyed with you and this one I had for the first time this week was absolutely scrumptious. It uses fresh tuna, which is pretty pricey right now, but I’m sure you could make it with any other meaty fish
HONEY MUSTARD TUNA TRAYBAKE
This amount will serve two people and take about 40 minutes to prepare and cook.
Preheat the oven to 220C/200C fan/gas mark 7
Bring a medium saucepan filled with salted hot water to the boil and add 300g baby white potatoes halved lenghtways to the pan. Simmer for 10 mins until softened, then drain.
Meanwhile, finely chop or crush 2 garlic cloves. Halve 110g baby plum tomatoes, drain 1 140g can of sweetcorn and trim 160g green beans.
Put the beans sweetcorn drained potatoes and garlic in a large ovenproof dish and toss with 2tsp oil and a bit of salt and pepper then bake in the oven for 5 mins.
Season 2 tuna (or whatever fish you’re using) steaks with salt and pepper, then take the baking veg out of the oven, scatter over the tomatoes and 180g tenderstem broccoli, trimmed, and put the fish on top. Drizzle with 1 tsp oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 10-12 mins, until the fish is cooked through.
Whilst that’s cooking, whisk together 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp runny honey, 1 tbsp cider vinegar, 1tbsp wholegrain mustard and a pinch of salt
When the fish and veg are cooked, serve drizzled with the dressing and some balsamic vinegar.
Enjoy!
THIS WEEK I’VE BEEN……WATCHING
Succession is back. And boy, is it ever back!
If you’re not already a devotee of this pulverising, savagely funny drama centred around the rarely-less-than darstardly shenanigians of manipulative media mogul Logan Roy and his bickering, back-stabbing family, then you need to settle on your sofa for a major catch up.
Because this week saw the start of the fourth and final season of this fabulously pulverising show. As it’s currently only being made available an episode at a time, I can only comment on the first one. But I can definitely recommend it just as enthusiastically as all the previous ones in all the previous series.
Whether you watch Succession for the story lines and viciously fast-paced dialogue - hang on to your hat and pay attention, they both rattle out at a furious rate, the characters and the actors inhabiting them so satisfyingly fiercely and fully, or the settings - the houses, oh the unbelievable houses; the planes, summonsed by the protagonists like Ubers; the boats, the buildings, the….well all the jaw-dropping accoutrements of jaw-dropping wealth and power - you won’t be disappointed.
Although episode one got off to, for Succession, a relatively low-key start - just a smattering of underhand dealing, furious confrontation and snakelike bullying, oh and (spoiler alert) a possible sex tape, it’s clear that we’re in for the Roy roller coaster ride we’ve come to love. Strap yourselves in.
You can watch Succession on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV
And see the trailer for season 4 HERE
The black tie wedding I wrote about going to last week was absolutely glorious. But trying to get my hair to look its best in preparation did bring to mind this
FRIDAY FUNNY
I hope whatever changes or transformations might lie ahead for you in the week to come, they’re only good ones.
See you next time.
