Your unfortunate Heyday Friday newsletter

There's something very strange going on with Mailchimp, the platform I use to send you these newsletters. Try as I might (and I have been trying my very hardest for several increasingly frustrating hours. And yes, I have turned my computer off and on again. More than once.) I simply can't get any images to upload.
In the absence of any sort of customer support (which only comes with a package that's more expensive than the one I can afford, grrrrrrrrrr) I can only assume that there's some kind of fault on the site.
Whilst I will keep trying to figure out what to do, and hoping that, if it is a fault, Mailchimp put it right very soon, in case I can't before the deadline for getting this to you on time, I'm scheduling this very much more succinct version with my apologies.
And keeping my fingers crossed that normal service will be resumed next week.
SHARING THE LOVE WITH YOUR
HEYDAY FRIDAY NEWSLETTER
The love I'm referring to is the pre-loved sort. And before you get the wrong idea, that's pre-loved as in secondhand. And secondhand in relation to furniture, as opposed to, well.....any other sort of pre-loving.
I'm going to stop now before I get myself tied in any more linguistic knots.
I'll just stick to telling you that this week's blog is all about the places I've found to be the most fertile hunting grounds for furniture that was previously owned by someone else but which, sometimes with the need for a little tlc, will look just perfect in your much-loved home.

THIS WEEK I'VE BEEN....
.... LISTENING TO
CAUTIONARY TALES with Tim Harford.
Back with another podcast recommendation this week. And another series (like Fauda last week) that I've brought to your attention before. The thing is, that with new episodes of this top-notch listening treat being released every other week, it's just too good not to remind you of what you might be missing, and urge you not to.
The marvellously modulated Tim Harford (a journalist for the BBC and Financial Times) presents these bi-weekly helpings of cautionary stories of human error, dreadful disasters and sometimes head-shakingly funny fiascos. In each case, Tim not only tells us the story of what happened, and analyses the (frequently surprising) reasons why whatever went wrong, did, but also explores and explains other related events, the relevance of which sometimes only becomes clear towards the end of the episode.
That's very much the case with my current favourite episode - The Hero Who Rode His Segway Off A Cliff. Don't be fooled by the apparently all-too-clear title. This is a typically absorbingly told tale of hubris and hype versus humility and simplicity, with a stomach-punchingly emotional twist towards its end.
You won't fail to learn something new and fascinating from every episode of Cautionary Tales.
You can listen to CAUTIONARY TALES with Tim Harford wherever you get your podcasts including Spotify

My apologies again for such a radically shortened newsletter this week.
Back to you in full next week. I hope!
See you then.
