Your festive finale Heyday Friday newsletter

YOUR FINAL, FESTIVE HEYDAY FRIDAY
NEWSLETTER OF 2022

I just got a text from a friend saying she hoped I had "everything under control" for Christmas. To which I replied "Define under control"!
I mean, I'm definitely more prepared than I was last week. But then that's not exactly setting the preparation bar very high. At least my to-do list isn't growing at the same rate I'm managing to tick items off it any more. So that's something.
In an effort to practice what I preach, Christmas at Heydays HQ this year will be especially budget-conscious. Which isn't, of course, to say, it won't be packed full of all the normal helpings of food, fun and fabulous mayhem.
The crackers for the table have been made by me (who knows if they'll pull or not!) Our Secret Santa presents are all either from, or donations to, charities and we've lowered the price limit by nearly half (we each give just one gift to just one randomly assigned family member). And every element of the food and drink is being brought by a different person, so we're divvying up not just the cost but the preparation as well (something we actually do every year).
Needing to be more aware of how much we spend at Christmas has also acted as an important reminder for me of the things that really count over the festive season. And, of course, that's nothing to do with stuff, and everything to do with the people we spend it with, the time we spend together with them and the festive traditions that we share.
So I thought for this final, festive newsletter of 2022, I'd share this handful of thoughts and quotes about this special time of year.

And some that reflect on New Year and the possibilities it brings

I do hope however you're spending your Christmas and New Year and whoever you're spending it with, it's full to the brim with joy. And that the coming year brings you, and everyone you love, everything you hope for.
Thank you for being part of the Heyday gang this past tumultuous year. I look forward to sharing generous helpings of inspiration, information and fun with you in 2023.
Wishing you the happiest Christmas.
See you on Jan 6th.
Lots of love
